DS Machining Services was established in 1994 by Dennis Smith who has over thirty years experience in engineering. The company began trading from The Old Forge on The Parade, at Chipping Sodbury. Dennis was the sole employee and the building was shared with a local fabricator. As the Business grew new machinery and employees were added to support the business. The company started as a jobbing shop. Dennis turned his hand to pretty much anything that involved milling and turning. The refurbishment of Hydraulic Rams was, and still is, a big part of the business. It earned a reputation for being reliable in turning jobs around quickly when required and dealing with the sort of jobs that other local companies were declining. Put together with reasonable prices and Dennis's huge experience the company was always destined to progress. In 1996 he was joined by his engineer son Paul who served his time at Renishaw and daughter Dianne in admin/sales. Shortly after we took our first venture into the CNC marketplace. The first machine was a Bridgeport Knee mill with Boss 7 control. We now have 9 CNC machines. Pretty soon the company had outgrown The Old Forge and moved to its current address, The Engineering Works. The building was converted and Dennis spent 3 months preparing the new work shops, ready for the move. Since then, the company has expanded steadily, continued investing in new machinery and equipment culminating in the refurbishment and extension of the original buildings. This family business has successfully grown from a small jobbing shop into a major component production facility.
Extension of the work shops carried out to accomadate new machinery and expand our fabrication facility. Extendiing the premises from 3,613 sq ft to over 7000 sq ft of purpose built workspace.
